The story of us
Kuninda was born of many different hopes and dreams, ideas and desires. The starting point for us was of course the land. Somehow it always is about the land. Let us first begin though by introducing ourselves.
Kabir and Radhika, a brother and a sister. The pair of us grew up between Nainital and our farm, then bounced about the globe as most young adults do nowadays. A few years of that and we both realised that the farm, its lifestyle and all the wonders the land had to offer, was where we belonged. Our deep love for nature, the soil and everything that the pair of them have to offer drove us to create a brand, an idea, which doesn’t cater to just one side of this consumer driven world. We wanted to start with the health and well being of the soil, the insects, the trees and the bees which would then allow us to create products and a lifestyle that cater to the wellbeing of the consumer, of you. We often forget that we cannot have one without the other and fortunately we have been blessed enough to have a home that reminds us of this everyday.
Kabir handles the farming aspect of this operation. What we grow, when we grow it and how we grow it. Applying techniques, both old and new, that bring back the micro organisms, encourage mycelium growth and the like which make it possible for life and soil to regenerate and for us to have healthy and wholesome food.
Radhika, applying the same belief of “of nature, by nature and for nature” does the making. Creating naturally preserving, traditionally prepared vegan mustards, fruit vinegars and preserves. Minimal human intervention resulting in fermentations and preparations that stay true to their ingredients.
Kuninda is a new story for us however, in truth, it is merely a new chapter in the book of a family, a community, a region that has always had a strong link to land and nature. We hope to bring that love and appreciation to you in a form that we understand best: food.
Over time we will share more about many whys and hows that make this brand tick, for now we leave you with just this: “Better things better made.” (for all).
